Challenge 636 - Getting High?
_______________

Description of this week topic:
Maybe I should be more specific. Looking for tall, high, or vertically challenging, (not vertically challenged) things. Can be mountains, people, structures, landscapes, starscapes or whatever comes to mind when you think about tall or high stuff. Imagination and creativity welcome.

M_Six - Oxford tradition with that honey limestone steeple reaching for the gray skies. I like the green framing. I watch altogether too much Inspector Lewis and I am a real fan of that visual. Thank you.

Teekay- Vertical waters dropping into a deep green bowl. Your photo has that vertigo inducing look of being too close for comfort. Love the clarity and beauty of the twin falls. Thanks.

Mathogre- Edged in grape seems like a 60's take on the topic's title! I'm very interested on what exactly this is and how you achieved this effect. Getting high indeed! Thanks for your submission!

HogansHeroes- I love the interesting framework steeple against the beautiful blue sky. Great job with a difficult exposure problem. I like it.
Thanks!

Car- I like the photo of high dining. It looks like a lovely place to share a meal with someone special. I would very much enjoy eating at this table but would probably linger a long time just to look out at the view. Thanks!

Maureen- That colorful shot gives me vertigo just looking at it! The purity of that blue sky just sets it apart! Super shot. Thanks!

OhLook- Beautifully composed photo. I really like the muted soft colors and the everyday nature of the scene. Somehow I just want a cat or an old man sitting in that chair to make the shot perfect! Very fine. Thanks.

JimAskew- I love worms-eye views of trees, and those ones are so interesting being all trunk and hardly any leaves except for the crowns. I love the balance of the four, reaching towards the center. Very interesting shot and super composition. Thanks

Well, I liked them all. All interesting takes on the topic and I have a difficult decision but here they are

First-Maureen- I loved this interpretation of the topic.
Second-JimAskew- I loved this perspective and composition.
Third-Mathogre- I loved the creativity. I need to know more!

Thank you all for your wonderful entries this week! All super and all appreciated.
Your turn, Maureen!

Good choices. Maureen's photo does indeed capture the contest theme perfectly. Kudos, Maureen.

Love the palm trees, Jim. Think of the ant looking up at that climb to the coconuts.

mathogre, clouds out an airplane window?

Well done, all. Some really good submissions this round.

Congratulations, Maureen, Jim, Graham. Spoco, thanks for making the hard decisions and offering an imaginative theme that brought out so much good work.

Oh my... I thought Jim's trees would take top spot! Seriously there were great entries from everyone. I took a handful of shots at the fair of this ride at the top, dropping down & nearer the bottom...everyone was screaming like made because it really was so high.
Congrats toy Jim & Graham & great theme from Steve. I will have something up later tonight.

Congratulations to Maureen and Graham and thanks for the coveted 2nd place nod :-).

Great contest theme Steve that got plenty of challenging entries. You have your work cut to sort out the many great entries.

Graham, I to am really interested in the story behind your intriguing entry :p

I shot the palm trees a couple of years ago in a park near Venice Beach, CA. This shot proves the worth of the G11's flip screen. Pointed the camera straight up and flipped the LCD screen around to see and compose the shot.
