Deep sky attempts: M13 and M57

This was my first time attempting to photograph M13! I think it turned out alright, but you can't see enough stars. Any suggestions?

It looks like you posted a jpeg? You should work with a raw image. Looking at yours and trying to adjust the levels, there are a lot of compression artifacts.

It also looks like you started to get some trailing, as well, so I'm guessing you're not using a tracking mount. That limits how much data you can gather with a long exposure.

One thing you could try is increasing your ISO a bit. I'm not familiar with your camera, so I don't know how that will affect noise in your images.

You didn't say what you used to shoot this, but I'm assuming some sort of scope, sine the EXIF info doesn't indicate a focal length for your lens.

Take 100 shots just like this. RAW.
Then download a neat little free program called DeepSkyStacker. You can find videos on YT on how to use it.

Hello and thanks for the feedback, I am still new to astrophotography. I have heard of DSS from other people for stacking. What will 100 more images do? Will it make the images like you see online, where there are thousands of images?

Stacking photos gives you a cleaner image, as in, less digital noise. This is more noticeable when you start adjusting your image and tweaking the levels/curves/brightne​ss etc.

100 images is lots ... try even just 20-30 to start with. Also try ISO 800 and ISO 1600 as an experiment, even higher if you like and see how far you can push your camera.

Once you start stacking, some noise is ok as you'll get rid of it with the clean up.
