Hockey and wedding photographer. Favourite camera / lens combos: a 1DX II with a Tamron 45 1.8 VC, an A7Rii with a Canon 24-70F2.8L II, and a 5DSR with a Tamron 85 1.8 VC. Every lens I own I strongly recommend [Canon (35Lii, 100L Macro, 24-70F2.8ii, 70-200F2.8ii, 100-400Lii), Tamron (45 1.8, 85 1.8), Sigma 24-105]. If there are better lenses out there let me know because I haven't found them.

Natural light, complete with long and short-grain rice. No NR. This sensor amazes me.

**I was corrected by the Chef: apparently it's Rosemary -?

Nice shot of kid with rosemary. ;-)a

I have the 5D4 (as do you) which is getting lots of praise. I also have the 1DX2, and there is something special about its sensor. The pictures are just better, and I can't explain why.

Image editing ok; C&C always welcome.

I concur. For some reason my 1DX-II jpegs seem a bit brighter. Maybe it's just the picture-style choice rendering from the RAW.

I have a hard choice choosing between whether to use the 1 or the 5 in situations, so I just default it to:
action? 1D
anything else? 5D.

Low light.. well, still trying to have an opinion, which I don't yet. I'm hoping to solve this awful problem soon lol

Just figured out why my Magnification to Actual Point on Playback was not working.

I had changed in the Menu under Lens Aberration Correction to use Distortion Correction ON - the default is OFF - I did this so if I was going to shoot Large Jpeg (for sports) it would correct in the jpeg the lens profile for Distortion. If you do this, if you then hit the zoom magnify playback button - it will not Zoom to the Actual AF point - it will only zoom to center

Bizarro

The other absolutely crazy one was when I couldn't figure this out, I went into my local camera store and I asked to try the New Tamron 85 again that my 5DSR was not liking - but this time on the 1Dx II. Something with these new Tamron lenses (85 and 45 we tried), created a picture on the screen, and in the thumbnails, also in Liveview, when loaded into LR that looked ridiculous - it was almost like we mounted an apsc lens on the camera - it inserted into the picture semi opaque circles that appear on screen that look like but aren't vignetting - all the store people were laughing it was crazy - no one had ever seen anything like it.

Now that I think I have solved my Magnify Zoom Problem by switching Distortion Correction back to OFF (I had put it ON), something about this menu choice must have seen in the lens the aspheric glass around the edge of that lens and put that into the picture - it was completely bizarre. And the more crazy thing, is that when they were thumbnails in LR you could see it, but when you started to Develop the image in LR that ridiculous effect was removed.

I have contacted Canon to let them know about the zoom issue which I hope they can fix - because I would like to have Distortion ON and still be able to Magnify / Zoom into the ACtual Focus Point.

May 23, 2017.. your fix still works. Thanks much!!!!! But not to you Canon :(
