Every week we select a new theme, and then go out and shoot that theme. This week the theme is - What's Important to You. As always be as imaginative/creative as you like when interpreting the theme, creativity is what we're looking for.

Show us What's Important to You...

Here are the rules:
1. Shots need to be taken between Monday Sunset and the following Monday by Sunset (Whenever that is for you ). Because this activity is supposed to encourage us to get out and shoot, please don't post old shots from your archives. Snapshots and art are equally welcome -- just get out & shoot, and then share!
2. Post your shots at any time during the week.
3. Post a maximum of two shots if you're uploading them to POTN (i.e., attaching them). You can post more than two if you're linking to shots that are not hosted by POTN (i.e. embedding them) but keep within POTN rules. Also keep within POTN rules about size. A copy of the size rules can be found here: IMAGE POSTING RULES
That's it! Have fun! As always be as imaginative/creative as you like when interpreting the theme, creativity is what we're looking for.
An index to previous weeks can be found here: POTN WORLDWIDE PHOTO WEEK INDEX

That's it!
Have fun!

joayne, I'm abstaining from photography while setting up my new computer. Nothing I put on the old one will be transferred. Data transfer is in progress.

Cooking with gas.

I tried eletric hobs and ceran, but they don't give the control you have with gas.

Very nice image #2. I wouldn't have thought of kitchen endeavors as a subject. I was afraid joayne was asking us to reveal to all the world our major concerns in life.

Thanks, Oh. I guess the theme is a very wide & open field, which I find more difficult than more specific themes like "red" or "food".
I was thinking of my best friends or concerts first, but these are not readily available in a Tuesday to Monday interval.

 :p
No Oh, that is not my intent!
It's really a simple theme, don't read too much into it. Just things you like.
Nice weather, a tree, the neighbors cat.
It's sort of a free week. Photographers choice!

I agree.. I went through a lot to get a gas stove into my house.
I re-piped with a friend after I had received ridiculous quotes for the job!

You're allowed to do that? Did you have to have a professional in to check and approve?

Same here. There is no way I could produce a photograph that shows what is important to me in life; something more of a philosophical perspective. So I didn't even give it a second thought, thinking of this week as a week that I can't take part.

In this life on Earth, the most important thing to me is family and friends. I've been blessed with both and find my photography has been another means of enjoying family time and make many new friends of all age groups.
The photos below are far from my best I've taken this spring but fit the time for the theme and many memories were documented as well.

This photo is of my Grandson as a relief pitcher. His last game as a junior in high school.
The conditions were terrible on this day, winds above 45 mph at times made things interesting for all involved.

The second photo shows years of memories and stories to be told by those involved although it would not be considered worthy of keeping by most standards.
Number 10 is a Senior that had just played for his last time for this school and with his team mates. He also broke the all time career hit record at our school by 4 runs but it wasn't enough and the team took 2nd place in districts. #3, another Senior, his last game and off to college in a different direction. # 17, my grandson will be a senior next time they play and will be missing the guys he has played with since they were 8 years old. The score board shows the sad results for us and reminds me of the strong wind on this day that resulted in numerous home runs and a lopsided high scoring game.
I remember when I didn't place much value in school sports, was not into photography and would never dream of traveling two thousand miles a year to watch them play. Much time, 43 years to be exact has passed since I graduated from the same school that my grandchildren now attend. I feel that I've worked hard many of those years for my home, farm, income, tools, hobbies but the most enjoyment for me always lies in my family and friends. My hobby of photography has led to making many new friends and I'm hanging out with teenagers, their parents and grandparents, never a dull moment in my life because of them.
I share my images with many of the students and their parents and if I go to enough games, rewards banquets, jr/senior proms I snag at least one great photo of each one of them that they appreciate having. These images I share may mean much more to them as the years go by.

Yeah, I'm afraid those were my thoughts too.
