- when you shoot with flash, in mixed lighting, you can get, very often, not the best, or consistent, White Balance
- as such, you have to be ready to individually WB each picture if necessary
- I would suggest that you play with the WB to get a slightly warmer less bluish image
- there is also funky green / magenta stuff going on in this image which might be harder to correct

I don't see a 'flashed' looked to his face, nor a strong flashed catch light, so I'm guessing you either bounced the flash or might have cropped this image. One of, if not the biggest issue with flash, is getting the WB correct in mixed lighting environments - and once the mixed lighting has been 'mixed' it really can't be unmixed - so maybe think of practicing with gelling your flashes in the future or try and work on your Post Processing and getting the WB 'better'.

Yes tried to use a bounced flash. I had some issues with trying to figure out the white balance in UFRAw to find one I was happy with. In the end I went with automatic which probably was a misstake (UFRaws predefined flash setting turned the image very blue indeed)

Sometimes, in situations such as these, you just have to fix the WB when you are editing the pictures afterwards because you wil always be able to do better than the camera's best guess when mixed lighting is involved. If you aren't familiar with how to do this, watch some videos on Youtube on WB and changing it in Lightroom (as an example).

The other things you can do very quickly is use a few graduated filters, pulled in from different directions, to even out the lighting on his face, and then reduce a bit of the red and orange saturations to desaturate his face of reds a bit.

Finally, I would crop the image to make it look like his head is not an afterthought but the focus of your your picture. You can also, very quickly remove his facial bandages in Photoshop with the Healing Brush - takes 5 seconds.

This edit of your image took about 2 minutes doing what I described

Hockey and wedding photographer. Favourite camera / lens combos: a 1DX II with a Tamron 45 1.8 VC, an A7Rii with a Canon 24-70F2.8L II, and a 5DSR with a Tamron 85 1.8 VC. Every lens I own I strongly recommend [Canon (35Lii, 100L Macro, 24-70F2.8ii, 70-200F2.8ii, 100-400Lii), Tamron (45 1.8, 85 1.8), Sigma 24-105]. If there are better lenses out there let me know because I haven't found them.

Just got myself the Canon 85mm f1.2 ii last night so had a play this morning. My poor wife hates it when I get new gear especially when I dont even give her a chance to drink her first coffee before I start snapping away :-D:lol:

I don't do a lot of headshot sessions, but I've been photographing this sweet girl since 2009 when she was just 5 years old, and she needed some updated ones for dance - glad she called me!

This is an image that is currently posted on another thread (apologies for duplication) ... but I thought it would be equally 'at home' here.

The first one seems to be underexposed, the second one seems to be overexposed. Also the lady seems to be quite anxious, the lips are really tight.
