Ohhhh.... In that case, interest rekindled a little bit :)

I've been looking at images OF the A7 & FE35/1.4 & it is just too bulky for what I want I think..... :(

I went through that process too and was put off numerous times but then I realised it was similar size and weight as the batis 85 and decided to give it a go. However I still have the 28/55 combo for when I want to have a smaller kit

^ Good call in getting the a6000. It's a terrific value and still performs very well. I'm setting mine up for 4K video to capture video of son. I wish I had this sooner. I have been using my iPhone to record him growing up. Need to update the firmware on my a6000 and I would love to have a 35mm equivalent for it. Would the FE 28 be my best best?

I have no issues using both phone and a7rii for vids. Of course I prefer the camera, but for any odd reason my camera isnt on me, I'll pull out my phone. I have an impromptu dancing session of my kids 7-8 years ago, video was total crap back then, but I have something better than nothing. We still watch that clip to this day! it was such a great moment! too bad I didnt have my current phone back then. My current clips are much higher quality, but great moments still hard to come by.

Run of the mill student awards or performance, are mostly quality, and my family loves to dig in our HTPC and watch those clips every week. They love the videos much more than the random slideshows, however random slideshows are great too.

A6000 only shoots up to 1080p, 4k was brought along in the a6300.

35 equivalent would be the 24mm f/1.8 or maybe the Batis 25. The 28 would give you about a 42. I like the 40-45 ish field of view which is why personally I like my Sigma 30 1.4.

If you have time could you briefly elaborate on this statement.....for my own info.
Thanks

Compared to the a9 I'd say battery life and dual slots.

with the right mix of settings + on camera speedlight + Gary Fong Collapsable Lightsphere Diffuser, light can be flattering.

Light looks good given that it doesn't look like there are any surfaces to bounce off of.

Have you seen the roundflash? It looks ridiculous but could be handy in those situations where you need a large on camera modifier b/c you have no walls to bounce off of:

I don't think those things are ridiculous at all if they work...I love the round catch light they can produce...if I shot studio stuff at all, I would build a big one.

Yes it is. The butterfly center there is a miserable place to visit: 200% humidity, 90 degrees (guessing), and zero air flow. I can only stand it for about 15 minutes at a time. They do have a nice abundance of butterflies this year though.
