Do you use big - truly big - lenses for any of this? If so, I am really interested in seeing how the A9 works for you when combined with adapted supertelephotos.

I've become discontent with my Canon gear, and am considering either switching to Sony or upgrading to a better Canon DSLR. I would love Sony's big DSLR (that new one that came out not too long ago, with 40+ megapixels), but then I would still get that dreaded shutter/mirror noise.

Whatever body I get, I would be using it primarily with a 300-800mm f5.6 Sigma. If you use your A9 on anything similar, please share your insights with me.

.

There was a video here posted on someone using a canon 500 f4/5 prime and it focused fine lol

I'm interested in seeing how adapted lenses perform with the a9. I think there is more to the AF system than Sony is letting on. Someone on SAR pointed out that the a9 actually has a 28mp sensor according to the Sony specs, but only 24mp effective...meaning there are 4mp used for something other than imaging...probably dedicated for PDAF.

I'm wondering what this means for adapters lenses.

to bad i got rid of most of my older lenses, would be fun to try some.

I might be renting Tamron 70-200 G2 2.8, I heard amazing things about that lens, and its priced right.

Thanks, good to get sight of some early user try-out shots. Were these all with the EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II?

On closer inspection ... quite obvious that they were not. What lens(es) were you using?

Don't forget that until Adobe ACR supports this camera, you can open raw files from your a9 using Sony's free "Image Data Converter". You can do basic editing there but you could just import to Photoshop as a tif file.
