if you want to use Sigma glass and want best AF, I would say forget about MC-11 and go for metabones and pure PDAF, you will get much much faster AF and as other person said AF though entire AF area of the camera, you will miss out on Eye-AF, but AF simply is a lot more reliable with metabones.

For sigma lenses metabones works better
for Canon lenses MC-11 works better

It seems like something out of bizzaro world, I know its weird, but that the case.

Pure PDAF is garbage in low-light though....and I need something for wedding/event shooting.

That a9 battery is a must, and so is the joystick.

I have a bag full of batteries for my a7R II, but I think I've worn them out because they run down super fast now. AFAIK, it's not good to completely drain lithium batteries before recharging them, yet the short battery life always has me running out of juice, so I'm accidentally abusing them and shortening their life.

It's been a solid two years since the announcement of the a7R II and three since the a7 II...wonder if we'll see an a7 III this year.

current rumors say a7iii in November, so I would expect a7riii in December/February time frame.

But what worries me that it could be even later, and instead of a7riii and a7iii, we will see a9s and a9r first.

I have 2 batteries for my a7rii and have never got to the point both are dead even when travelling etc. I would however still welcome the bigger battery in future models

which is why my main wedding camera is a 1DXii with a 24-70 F2.8 with a hotshoe mounted flash with focus assist - there isn't any wedding light that exists, where such a setup cannot lock on and why most wedding photogs use hot shoe mounted flashes

Native FE lenses with hybrid AF focus really well in low light and I've shot a number of weddings on them. I've been playing with Sigma as an alternate to native glass to save $$$, but really it seems native is the way to go.

The issue is I'm trying to find a lens solution to potentially use on the a6500 as a second body....and there aren't many fast, wide angle options out there.

Pretty much why I gave up on the a6300. The B25 was making it too big so I always grabbed the A7RII. The FE28 was too long on the crop for what I was after. The only one I didnt try that maybe I should have was the 24 1.8

Yeah I can see why the APS-C guys are so frustrated with Sony.

I'm not really concerned about size though....I just really like the performance of the a6500. Even with native FE lenses, it'd be nice if we had something like a 24 f1.4
