True... But look how popular Canon aps-c is and how many years did Canon take to make one 2.8 zoom the 17-55.

Camera manufacters don't consider aps-c as serious option.

Only Fuji treats aps-c seriously because they don't have a full frame and they have to.

I have 2 batteries for my a7rii and have never got to the point both are dead even when travelling etc. I would however still welcome the bigger battery in future models

I carry 6...and routinely need the third in a day of shooting, doing mostly LE the batteries drain fast.

I had preordered it when it was announced and double stacked coupons as well. So had the chance to get it for $799 instead of the current asking price of $1,699 I think. Well I forgot about it, they sent me an email a few weeks back that I forgot to respond to so they canceled my preorder lol. Looking at the final production unit it has no grip whatsoever. Guess that $800 will have to go towards another lens or body!

I just got the 24-35 F2...updated all of the firmware and did some quick tests. Still struggles at times. Fares much better on the a6500 than the a7rII....and yeah it can't focus reliably outside of the rule of thirds rectangle as the PDAF stops working past those boundaries.

Hopefully native Sigma FE lenses don't have this limitation, but it seems that the E-mount APS-C Sigma lenses do.

I'm hopeful that native Sigma FE lenses being built from the ground up exclusively for the Sony and not ports of existing glass that they'll be able to perform well. The Sigma APS-C glass serve double duty as Sony APS-C as well as m4/3 glass.

I'm actually intrigued at the Voigtlander FE 40 1.2 or the 35 f/1.4.

Even if a 2.8 zoom ever makes it to market, I doubt it would sell well. Look at how big the Fuji 16-55 2.8 is, it a big and heavy lens. Something of that size wouldn't ergonomically fit well with the a6500 I think. APS-C or not, a 2.8 is a 2.8, you can only condense it and make it so small.

Okey im so stupid. Really. And i am angry about it.

I have been shooting more lately with a great trip and a car shoot with some car enthusiast friends. When i was on the trip i was wondering that the mountains we were next to were so big that even my 15mm lens didnt get all of it in. While processing the files i also was quite surprised to see that 1:1 didnt look that sharp on ALL images.

Now after getting out more to shoot and getting more and more used to the camera etc again, i noticed that my camera was in APSC mode all the time. This really puts me off as i dont even own a single APSC lens and dont remember setting that up. I came home with good shots, but i just think how much i was limited because i mainly shoot wide angle. Duhhh....

I'm not really concerned about size though....I just really like the performance of the a6500. Even with native FE lenses, it'd be nice if we had something like a 24 f1.4

When I was looking to get into a small crop system I didn't look beyond Sony. Mainly cause I've seen a few of you POTNer's go from canon to Sony. I know, I know....I completely failed to do enough research and should have looked at the Fuji system. It's clear that Sony is not putting any effort into their APS-c lens lineup. I would be very frustrated if I was more serious about the hobby. But as it stands Sony does offer a few nice primes in the FL's that I want/need. (I've never needed a long tele lens)

The 24/1.8 is really nice being 36mm FOV which suits my needs. Initially I was not too happy with it cause it didn't support all the sophisticated AF features of the a6500, particularly with video. Then I realized (just this past week....duh!) that I needed to update the firmware for the lens to v2. It took about 30 seconds and It's now like an all new lens and supports everything the a6500 has to offer. For stills it's fast, accurate, and super sharp wide open. Tracking works very well for non-complex scenes. For the few vids I make it's wonderful. 4K is well, ultra high definition/mind blowingly sharp. AF-c supports the different focus pull speeds. AF point selection with the touch screen works quick and flawlessly! If someone can find the 24/1.8 for a decent price on the used market its hands down the best option for the a6xxx cameras for that FOV. Too bad it doesn't play with the FF bodies.

you have a super simple kit, I applaud you for your restraint

I'm pretty happy with my kit, but I'm just not happy that 200f2's are really heavy

why cant anyone make one the size of the 135? Diffractive optics or something please
