One of my school friends asked me to be his photographer for his secret proposal. This was the first time I had done something like this but I was eager to get out there & try it out.

Must agree with the above; for what must be ultimately one of the most exciting and memorable moments in a ladies life...
Did you take a different image to capture a time of perhaps better emotion?
Im also drawn to the fact that you've cut his foot off.
Liking No2 much better, the closeness is much more obvious.

Tons of enthusiasm, loads of kit, limited skill...

Hey guys, thanks for getting in touch. She knew the proposal was coming but just not when. Also, yes, his foot got cut off slightly in the first photo, but if you check my blog, there are more images where his leg isn't cut off.

Not to thread jack but I've done one of these once and it was perfect. Here's the unedited proofs. It was well over 100 degrees here in Texas that day but it was really a good time. We shot with a "wanna be a Lindler"(the guys last name) for about 3 minutes and she never even took the time to read it. Finally he asked her, don't you think you should read the sign? Priceless.

Now I really do like No3, where she is oblivious to the concept and No1 has that 'magical moment sparkle'...
But it seems you share the same fetish in having only one-footed potential Grooms!

Yes, I see that. I didn't want to miss the moment and take the time to re-compose.!!

I think it was the same for me. I had to quickly get the image. I will post some more images that have got the whole leg showing!

Is there enough there in the first image to zoom in closer? What is making the image feel unbalanced isn't so much his leg, (that rule is broken all the time successfully), but to me that it shifts the balance of the shot off the side. You have her centered.... where as in reality "they" should be centered. He is pulling attention off to the side of the shot. If you take it it tighter, I think the shot will feel more comfortable. For what it is worth... shot is fine.... just recrop.

Second shot works just fine....

Whether she knew a proposal was coming or not this girl really acted like a proposal was an every day thing. I don't see the point of getting a photographer to capture the moment if the bride isn't going to react appropriately with ridiculously big smiles and shock.
