AF light on hot shoe flash Most flashes use infrared beams as an AF assist light. It seems that the F45RM uses an LED light as an AF assist beam and that its enabled with that update. focalpointsphoto.com

It seems that the F45RM uses an LED light as an AF assist beam and that its enabled with that update. A bigger deal is that it appears that lenses will now focus wide open instead of stopped down. This is huge because focusing stopped down when its dark (i.e. studio) has been a PITA before. This seems to be one of those "sony is listening to their customers!" firmware updates. It really seems like they have people reading angry rants on forums lol Focusing stopped down is only partially true. When light levels low enough, it will open up as needed. Rolling shutter fix? I doubt it. I wish they could make it so that thescreen would not dim when in video mode. Cory
