I swear that the magnification when manual focusing seems sharper as well?

Oh wow when I had the a6500 I didn't know the camera still focus in that AF selection mode. I actually found it really annoying because I kept toggling it off.

I think it's pretty awesome, just briefly using it around the house. I typically dont use the DPad for anything other than AF point selection so I'm already pre trained for this. I have a duplicate of the shortcuts in the fn menu. Having the "live view display" in menu.... nice. I just started using that a little more lately, great to see it in the FN menu. Too bad they didnt add the crop mode in the custom menu, I guess time to write more complaint emails

When i got my a6500 and saw i could move af points without having to lock it in .. i got excited and thoight maybe the 7sii could do it and i just had to find the option somewhere in the menus..
No luck of course .
This is a VERY WELCOME upgrade cant wait to get home and upgrade firmware

IMO, This is the only saving grace to not having a joystick. (I still don't use the touch screen regularly to switch AF points). I've turned off all other wheel functions. I use it only to move the floating AF point around.

I dont use the touch screen anywhere near what i thought id use it..

so I have the firmware, indeed, focuses wide open with my FE 50. AF has A6300/A6500 style moving points..... wow, did not see that coming at all, I dont think sony knows what they're doing, that's one of the biggest upgrade features I was looking forward to, now they cant take my money

Do you mean the AF on/off toggle? I've been wishing for that upgrade!

Sony Pro Service and Precision Camera get it done! Granted I sent my rx1rii in for the light leak recall and I think they simply replace the unit outright, but still really fast turn around. I first called Sony Monday.

They give you a brand new rx1rii?? If so It would be a good time to package up and sell as new if you were thinking of selling it

new firmware installed - seems to work fine - and the new on/off AF toggle is great

I would use it a lot more for reviewing pics in playback mode or scrolling through the (exhaustively) extensive menu system. Only use it occasionally to change AF point. I have it turned off when using the EVF.
