When I was buying a filter for my Sigma something told me to go for Hoya HMC UV(C).
Now I know I made a good choice and I'm glad I didn't trust this "more money-more quality" thing.

Thanks for the link Ah-keong but I don't have filters because of impact damages.
I approve filters for certain circumstances. I usually put filter on my lenses when:
- I go to the coast - wind+sand+salt
- I go to a party - drink splashes, fingerprints, ...
On the other hand I don't believe in filters and I usually don't use them.

Well, in my opinion, a filter is what saved the front element of my 70-200 f4L, while it was in my lowepro 400, carefully stored. It was a hoya, cracked from the edge in. No idea how, but I wouldn't be without one now. Just my tuppence worth:-)
