I use a monopod only when I shoot a soccer game, bought this lens for it's lightweight and use a black rapid strap fro it.
Monopod i use a rather old and was very cheap, it also does not have a head, so the sigma is put on directly, works fine.
So yes it looks like a good monopod (pricey too :-) ), but you must think about how much you will use it.

Last light of day, I see something, check and capture my first owl.
What a great way to start the weekend.
Very happy with it.
Also the highest ISO shot i ever made and came out quite nice.
