The Loon gave me 3 seconds to get what I needed. I've put in a request for a little more time next time.

Nice shot. Yeah, it's amazing how much easier it is to set up for things that aren't about to take off.

Early this morning, I saw a pair of American Robins, outside my home office window, appeared to be an adult and a nearly full grown chick, frantically searching for worms in the mulch. Later this morning, from our back yard, I noticed an adult Robin, posing on my neighbors roof top, displaying a very large earthworm. I wondered if she was trying to entice her chick to join her in a meal. She was there for at least 20 minutes, long enough for me to retrieve my 7dii with the 400DOii and the 2xiii attached. It seemed like a good test, that roof line is an honest 100 yards from my back yard.

These are considerable crops, well over 50%. I find long focal length to be sort of addictive, like horsepower in a car.

The chick never showed up and she departed with her prey intact (mostly).

I think she is encouraging them to fly (or trying to). I got a shot of a robin doing much the same thing- cropped to remove the railing framing her.

Had not thought of that, I bet you are correct. That would explain her patient display. Thanks.

This cute little one has 11 brothers and sisters. They live at Havre De Grace, MD. I hope it grows up to be a large full grown duck that lives a long happy life.

Gary

I don't think it is an injury. But I am not sure what it is.
