There are good and bad contractors that make trades, etc look bad. My worst experience was with a painter about 15 years ago. Had too many jobs on the go, there was a different person at our place every day that did not seem to really know where the last one had left off. Tried to tell me that walls had two coats and it was clear they had only one. I have not hired one since but I know there are good ones out there.

In the petrochemical industry we deal with quality co troll and sign offs.

I've now done that with any contractor I hire. I benefit from being in construction and also knowing all the crafts and what needs to be done. I do most my work myself but when a job is too big I will hire someone but I lay out a sign off inspection form for each part of the work.

If I'm laying good money I demand it be done right.

That's a substantial upgrade.

Your definitely a guy that will be able to use the 5D4 for 10 more years lol

Wow. You take several weeks off and you only fall behind about 900 posts. My wife's mom got sick so she took off for 3 weeks to help look after her. Never been apart that long. I decided to paint the entire house, something she wanted for a for years. Hard labor for my age. Easier when she is not around but it was no fun looking after everything else.

But I eased the pain a few nights. Looking forward to dusting off the camera gear.

My dad was a B-24 navigator in WW II, but the war ended before he flew any combat missions. Witchcraft was in the Seattle area a few years ago, and the crew allowed me to sit where my dad would have been as the navigator (just on the ground; I didn't fly in the plane). Nevertheless, it was a pretty humbling experience. Thanks for sharing the photo.

Image editing ok; C&C always welcome.
