Jun 12, 2017 08:21 | #139 I was feeling especially lazy last night, shooting with the 24-240 rather than zeiss 100-300. Zeiss is obviously nicer, but longer setup time and bigger size, I just wasnt feeling it.... so I took a known okayish lens

Jun 12, 2017 09:42 | #141 Anyone else see the rumors of the a7III? While I'm sure it's coming, I have doubts about whether it'll incorporate the a9 AF as well as the a9 sensor. Part of the reason for the high price is the stacked sensor for fast readouts. If there is a significant drop in FPS, which I'm sure there will be, there is no need for the stacked sensor. And without the stacked sensor that might be no blackout free shooting, no fully electronic shutter, etc. Might just be a 24MP sensor, possibly a reworked a7II one, with better AF, 4k, and old a7 body. Releasing an a9 lite version this soon after the a9 will cripple sales of the a9 since most seem to think that 20 FPS is too much and 10-12 is a preferred range. Current Gear: Sony RX1RII

I don't mind if they'll use the old sensor. The RII's 42mp sensor is superb enough. Should have all of the ergonomic features of the a9 unless Sony pulls a canon and purposely nerfs the camera (Sony usually doesn't do that though). focalpointsphoto.com

A page or so back. the 70-200 is considerably sharper on the long range, however the 70-300 is okayish all the way through 300 (it doesnt have perfect edges like the 70-200 stopped down. It looks like SAR said exact same Auto focus system as the A9 but there's no mention of ergonomics. Unless i'm missing something or maybe they will just add joystick as part of the auto focus system. | SONY A7SIII(2) | A73 | A6000 | Sony A7IV | Sigma105 | FE1635F4 | Tamron 70-180mm F2.8 | Tamron 17-28 Tamron 28-75 | FE50F1.8 | Sony 16035F4PZ | SEL30mm F3.5 Macro | Canon 24mm TSE | Laowa 15mm Shift

I think it looks great in this picture. One question for you. I'm constantly amazed at the sharpness/crispness of your photos. I realize that you have some incredible glass with the Batis and Loxia, but how do you sharpen your images? I know there are a ton of ways to do it but I feel like I can never replicate what you manage to do or even come close. Just curious what process you use. I generally use the High pass filter and play with the opacity slider and then create a mask over that and selectively sharpen things. I imagine you have a much better method and I would love to learn it. Great photos as always. I love your work.

Doesn't make sense to have the stacked sensor if you don't need the fast readouts. I don't see a a9-lite, especially if it's half the price of the a9 but 90% of the a9 minus the 20FPS. Yeah the performance of the a9 comes from the sensor so I don't see how the a7III will share the same sensor. That said I do think the a7III will be an a9 lite just like the 5dIV is a 1dxII lite. If I were to play the gear guessing game I'd say the a7III is 28mp bsi (not stacked). AF somewhere between the a7rII and a9....basically a6500 level. Better DR than a9 throughout the entire ISO range...possibly a7s level DR and SNR at high ISO. 10 fps, no zero blackout evf, but a continuous evf like the a6500. Touchscreen and joystick, but no larger capacity battery. Probably not as susceptible to heat lol. $3,500. focalpointsphoto.com
