Here's one more where I used AlienSkin plus various layers and blend modes in PS CC. I tried to emulate a colorized photo.

Well done, and I like the extra blush in the cheeks as that was a typical early method

Thanks. In researching my family tree, I've seen old photos that are basically black and white except for some blush tinted on. This is my 'homage' to that style. The frame I used above is from a family photo album of one of my great aunts from the early 1920's or 30's.

Haumoana - an image I thought might enjoy a few different sorts of processing.

Nik Colour Efex high key, with emphasis on the foliage

Here is a conversions/restoration attempt I did recently. The first shows the original as it was sent to me and the 2nd image shows the end results, This is my great grandfather.

For the black & white restoration, first I converted to B&W, cropped and rotated the image until it looked straight, made a selection of Frederick then replaced the background with a plain one. The hardest part was trying to select the bottom portion since I made a mistake and removed the oval frame first and feathered in the sides of the lower portion of his body. I cleaned up blotches, dirt, etc. and adjusted contrast.

I wonder what the original looks like?

Btw, the husband of my 3rd great aunt was mayor of Rockford in 1855.
