"Adolescent" offspring, out of the nest and as big as the parents, go through a begging stage where they flutter and vocalize until Ma or Pa gives them a little something. The parents seem to hold back to encourage the young to forage independently. They'll feed the kid once in a while but mostly ignore its begging.
