David/Travis and/or other landscape/cityscape shooters, can you share how you have your custom buttons configured? I just updated the firmware to 4.00 and wanted to tweak my assignments. Thanks!

I will have to look at it when I get back home.

I know that C1 is my shooting settings, single, high speed :p, bracketing etc
C2 is metering IIRC, not used much.
C3 is my focus zoom
C4...can't remember, again not used much,
I use the wheel a lot, and have even adapted to the floating focus point trick, just an extra click to get out of that and back into ISO, WB, things that should be set up ahead of the shoot and not really messed with during.

Epic!

Thanks...I kinda thought so too...It took all my energy to make the 1.6 mile hike back up there...its steep, then downhill...then uphill and then really steep...I had already hiked over 18 miles in two days, and my legs were kinda jello...but after the shoot...they didn't seem to hurt anymore!

Awesome imagery. Amazing there was so much color in the sky for such a huge stitch. Was this from Roan Mountain State Park? Did you camp?

Thanks, yeah, I wanted to encompass a good wide view, but also a tall view...the color went 180 degrees, and even behind us had good color. It is Roan Mountain, love that place this time of year. No, we did not camp, found a cabin less than 5 miles from Carver's Gap and it made a great basecamp.

^Right there with you on that one David. I find that the only time I want that f/2 is for astro. The rest of the time, I am usually at f/8 or smaller.

This one is from this past weekend...one of the most wild, long lasting sunsets I have ever seen...so glad I stuck around the extra night in the Highlands. 5 Image Vertical pano with lots of overlap with the B18.

Cry. Sitting on my desk. 0 FE glass. Only one I've ordered so far (85 FE) is on backorder until the 18th, not scheduled to receive until the 20th. Actually has me considering the cheap 50mm FE that I was offered one for $150.

First, congrats on the new camera. I suppose until you actually get a lens to put on it, you could always punch a very small hole in the body cap to make a pin-hole camera temporarily...a very fast pin-hole camera. ;-)a

I've always had a lot of difficulty framing and then stitching panos taken with wider lenses. How did you manage it with the B18? Don't things distort?

Some advice needed: I need to find a good used Sigma 35 Art...none for sale on FM right now. Should I throw out a WTB out there? Or does that pose some sort of trolling risk? Any other suggestions like Ebay or KEH or used on BH?

I'm not in any sort of hurry about it, so I don't mind waiting a few weeks till one pops up on FM.

Hey David, I would definitely open a WTB thread, especially if you aren't in a rush. FM FS/WTB threads auto bump as well (I forgot for how long), so no need to keep bumping manually either. Also as Charlie has mentioned, I'd definitely set up FM alert as well.

And yes you do need to be careful with suspicious users with unusually low prices. I once had someone (of course with zero feedback and fairly new to FM) contact me after seeing my WTB thread, but later found out he was a scumbag. Before reporting to Fred, his account was already locked. His FM username was Alex Konney.

Good luck!

Lol, canceled my 85mm 1.8 order on Amazon that was backordered to arrive on Wednesday and ordered one from a retailer that has one in stock to come in on Tuesday. One day sooner!

Still waiting for a good deal on the 24-70GM, can't see myself paying $2,200 for it when I hear stories of people getting it for $1,600-1,700.

Though I should make another purchase soon, seems silly to have an a9 and just shoot with a 85.

Like I said before I was going to wait until August/September but this a9 was $500 off so I had to buy it, but didn't realize that I'd be without lenses.

By next week I hope to at least have something else.

Definitely be careful with WTB threads on FM, they're notorious for bringing scammers out from hiding. They'll usually cut and paste a generic response. Always check account registered date as well as feedback. Personally if a person doesn't have at least 10 feedback I proceed wiTh great caution. So far I've been able to maintain a 114 positive 0 negative experience so far on FM, which just sadly reminds me of how much GAS I have at times.

Yes, I will ignore sellers without a very strong rating. In fact there is a guy with only two feedbacks with one for sale, but I ignore those. For me people with zero or low feedbacks can do some buying first and develop a good history.

I might (still unlikely) consider someone with low feedbacks, but who has a strong familiar presence in the forum discussions. Lots of buyer/sellers never contribute anything in the photography/gear discussions.
