Okie dokie.... thanks to all who entered. I had a tough time picking winners because each shot appealed to me in a different way. So here we go:

M_Six: Mark, I just loved the perspective of this shot. The clear water reminded me of snorkeling off of Tahiti where one could see white sand 25 feet down.
Teekay: I grew up in Huntington Beach & have seen those signs many times. Always disappointing when one arrived for a day at the beach....
Cory: love the B&W & mood of this.
Tcphoto: Tony, I love the colors of the shot. This was a real contender but it did not meet the size requirements of the challenge. The smallest size is 800 pixels on the longest side & this was only 648. Next time make it bigger please!!!
Jim: LA is known for its weirdness & this sign proves it to be true. Nice find.
Car: I love how your girls smiley faces brighten up your photos. This is perfect of them in the heart.

Winners:
1st:Mark
2nd: Car
3rd: Cory

Winners posted. For those who haven't heard, we are having record breaking heat so I am at my son's house giving his dogs a couple of hours in The A/C. It is 108 outside & climbing.

Thanks, Maureen. Kudos to Car and Cory. Love the negative space in Cory's image.

I'll get a new one up pronto.

Thanks for hosting and judging Maureen. And, congrats to Mark!

My photo is actually Venice Beach, CA only really, really foggy. The locals said the ocean was out there somewhere.

Congrats to Mark and his runners up! And to Maureen for judging, which must have been hard. Best composition? Best Beach? Cutest kids? Funniest? I would have had a tough time deciding.

Incidentally, I do envy the ladies and parents in these challenges who can take shots of kids without a second thought, whereas us older guys with children all grown get looked at sideways (or worse). These days I hardly dare stop and even look at children in a playground or on a beach having fun, let alone start taking photos, and when asking parents' permission they often look uncomfortable and say "no", making me feel like some kind of weirdo, so I just don't try any more. Comments?

Teekay, I have 5 grandkids ranging from 9 months to almost 15 yrs so I rarely shoot any other children unless it is my sister's grandkids. Last Thursday I took 2 yr old Ella to her dance class & took pictures but managed to keep the others blurred off in the background. It can be tricky, for sure.
