My issue is all of the images I'm snapping at 20fps. I never thought I'd shoot 20fps that often, but its actually REALLY useful for documentary type photography as those key expressions happen in very fleeting moments and spraying and praying is easier than trying to time things in single shot mode. There's a lot of value in it when photographing kids.

Im going to kid on I never read this line

Stories of overheating, stories f banding, stories of the a9 being responsible for the JFK assassination, and stories of the a9 being responsible for world hunger.

All I know is that my culling process is more difficult now. Even with the a6500 with the best AF on a Sony body gave me a 10-15% throwaway rate. I would cull through the images and delete those that were clear misses or unsharp. With the a9 it just doesn't miss. My first session was about 150 shots with 3 misses and the second one was over 450 shots with 6 immediate deletes. And this was with only the 85 1.8 mostly shot wide open. Shot after shot with eye AF is tack on the eye.

The real test will be later today not when my 24-70 GM comes in (expecting it to be killer) but when my cheapo $109 used 50mm f/1.8 FE comes in.

I usually keep all of my raws, but will have to cull out the ones that are clearly throwaways or I'll burn through HDD's real fast.

Yall need to stop... Makes me want one more...

Do you have a pull back? I'm interested in the backdrop.

That FE 90 is such a nice product photography lens. Very sharp and clean rendering.

I know full well, this is the reality, I'm just deadly afraid of culling with the pace of lightroom........

5 shot landscape shot pano from Karekare waterfall in Auckland.

First time I've used photopills to plan a shoot. We were aiming to get the core coming over the waterfall.

Lol, I knew it was too good to be true. Received my B&H order of the Sony 50mm f/1.8 FE. Clearly it says Sony FE, right? Open the box and bam.. 50mm DT. Lol. I'll return and reconsider my options. Only reason I bought it was the dirt cheap price. Maybe I'll splurge for the 35mm f/1.4. Maybe wait for the Sigma 35. Maybe just pay for the 50 1.4 or get the 55 1.8.

Only 3 short years I never would've thought I would say that we have too many options.

Here's a pullback for you Carlo. This is for the next beer I'm photographing, San Miguel. The backdrop is made up of the two wood panels my friend made for me. On the one used as the bg, I put a black foamcore board behind it to block light from coming through the gaps.

You can't tell from this angle but the 3rd flash is snooted and at the camera left side. It's aimed at a strip of aluminum foil to reflect light through the bottle.

Even set at Medium I'm getting a ton of shots. I only tried 20 FPS once and the short burst I shot of my daughter I thought for a second that she was frozen, 30 or so shots that look exactly the same.

Here's the image from the a7rII's point of view. I just set this up quickly for the pullback. It's too much like the last beer shot so I want to mix things up a little more.

There's a large liquor store here in town that carries a huge variety of imported and domestic beers Vinz. Drinking San Miguel brings back a lot of memories from my time in the Navy too. Our home port overseas was Cubi Point, Subic Bay US Naval Air Station, Bataan on Luzon in the Philippines.

Vinz, or anyone else that might be interested, here's a guide to the Philippines given to sailors by the Navy so they could learn about the country and its people as well as what was expected from military personel. I converted a series of photographed pages into a pdf file. In the guide book, there's a map of the Subic Bay Naval Base too. The guide was produced around 1971.

You can read it here:

There are basically people on the internet asserting that Sony is paying reviewers to give good reviews of the camera, and that Sony manipulated the press events to cover up things like the overheating and banding. Tony Northrup, who has been critical of Sony in the past, made a video debunking all of that.

Link to Northrup's video. Gets interesting when he turns the tables round on the A9 trolls
