Three of the four killdeer chicks hatched right in time for the Killdeer Dad to enjoy his Father's day. I posted a couple of shots of of one of these killdeer parents already in the bird portrait thread, but decided to post the first images of these chicks in their own topic. The mom laid the eggs right in the middle of the parking lot at our local BMX track. I put caution tape around the nest to keep the eggs from getting run over and I must say I am most happy that three, and most likely four, of the chicks have survived and have a chance to grow up and raise their own chicks some day.

This is the one I assume is Dad. It was running around about ten feet from the nest while the other Killdeer was tending to the chicks.IMAGE LINK: https://flic.kr/p/VSy9zo

This is the only shot I got with all three chicks and the egg in the image. The chick in focus seemed to be more active than the other two. I assume it was the first to hatch and the other two are younger, but that is just my guess. He may just be the athlete of the family.
