11-24mm is big and heavy, but if I could do it again, I'd keep and not sell it. Hope the FE 12-24mm is as good. If so, I might consider. Size looks amazing. Yeah, filters...I know. :p

Well you can use the fusion filters. 12-24 can't use fusion and needs 150mm filters.... Price of the 11-24 has gone down quite a bit, so that's nice.

It's a trade-off: greater portability vs greater LE usability. Not sure which poison I prefer...probably portability. Would not have said that one year ago.

It is a super nice lens and loved shooting with it too. But I'm personally done with carrying any big white lenses. :-P

it's sharp all the way. the AF is really fast too and silent. i just don't like the size. if i own it, it will only be used for events like weddings for sure. and that's because i have the 85mm.

Thanks for your feedback. Definitely not a lens you would want to carry around casually hehe. I might have to see how well it does with the old clunker a7r. im thinking about getting the lens and renting the a7rii but i dont really like to rent stuff. would rather put that towards something to own.

this will be something big for me, i have not gotten anything since the a7r came out in 2013. 8-)

been trying to figure out if i should get another DSLR because i love the handling but it seems like it'll be a u-turn decision.

I love this series, Carlo. The model just nails it.

Thanks! Yes the models really make or break the shot and she did a really good job with this series.

My only nit is the flash glare on the painted door. But top shelf work as usual.

Thabks travis. Yeah that's the Dow side of these large modifiers....soft light but they throw it all over the background. I bought some cheap-o 10 dollar grids on Amazon after that shoot.

6DII to be announced soon. I think a mirrorless cam would have made more sense, as it seems that the casual FF camera crowd is leaning towards mirrorless cam these days.

Also Sony releases tend to follow Canon by 2-3 months and I bet we see the a7III this fall. A7rii came shortly after the 5DSR, a6500 came shortly after the eos m5 and 7dii, A9 came shortly after the 1dxII

Regarding lens size...I'm cool shooting portraits with the 70-200gm and would love a 200 f2. But I'm not a fan of large landscape lenses and the Sigma 12-24 was a no-go for me. Different shooting experiences...when I shoot landscapes it's usually when I'm out doing things and I'd prefer not to drag big heavy stuff around.

I don't understand where Canon is going either. While I'm not in a hurry to completely migrate to Sony, I am beginning to sell off some of my Canon lenses and adding more E mount lenses in anticipation of an update to the A7RII.

Sold off my Peak Design Everyday Backpack 20L. Nothing against the bag, the craftsmanship is amazing, just the benefits to the bag (quick side access, accessories flaps) weren't being used by me at all. The divider system just didn't work that well for me either. I either want a bigger bag to hold more lenses with thicker dividers or want a smaller bag with just room for 1-2 lenses. The EDB just screamed to be filled out more but the way it was setup for me didn't work that well. I would just have a camera with one lens attached and one spare lens. Had a lot of wasted room. Back to square one.

Yeah it's really strange. The market data shows that the growth is occurring in the mirrorless space whole DSLR's continue to decline. I think the 6DII is a pretty clear indicator that a FF mirrorless camera is not in the pipeline within the next 12 months, as it would simply cannibalize the 6DII and Canon seems to be very careful to avoid that.

Hehe yeah it's a bag designed to carry big load out. Its basically my gig bag as I stuff A LOT of gear in that thing. It can basically carry my full kit.

i'm liking the ergonomic of the A9 for sure. the focus mode/drive mode dial, the joystick. i also notice the EC works even in full manual including the ISO. Do you A9 users notice that?

then it's handy when i setup the AEL button as the Eye AF then the AF-On as my back button focus(turning off AF on the shutter).

God help me with the temptation. DR is not a problem when you get it right in the camera.
