i'm liking the ergonomic of the A9 for sure. the focus mode/drive mode dial, the joystick. i also notice the EC works even in full manual including the ISO. Do you A9 users notice that?

then it's handy when i setup the AEL button as the Eye AF then the AF-On as my back button focus(turning off AF on the shutter).

God help me with the temptation. DR is not a problem when you get it right in the camera.

Definitely. I love the ergonomics of the camera and when I add the additional pinky grip, it just fit much better. Might have to look into getting the RRS base plate when it comes out as I might want to use the Peak Design Capture Clip with the camera. I also have Eye AF to the AEL, tried it for the AF-On but it didn't feel as comfortable.

What I like as well is that you can set the shutter to trigger video recording! I think this is a first for the Sony cameras. I hated the button on the side, I like the relocated button, but the video record on the shutter is a neat feature to have as well.

that's it. Video focus racking with the a9's touch screen seals the deal. Now figuring out which bank i'm going to rob tonight. lol

One thing I found y'day is that when you're set to AF area 'wide', you can override this temporarily by touching an area you want to focus on via the touch screen, with having to toggle the AF area mode. Really helpful because we've all been in those situations where you need to quickly focus on something selectively , but don't have time to toggle the AF area.

with the new floating AF point of the A7RII with the new firmware, it's easier to do that too though.

may i ask what reason(s) are you not wanting to keep it for?

i'm not looking to buy at the moment, just curious because it's a lens I am considering in the far future :)

there's no problem with the lens. it's sharp throughout the range and at any aperture. i just realized i prefer a 35mm prime. i do shoot group shots during receptions and I don't like to accidentally shoot at 24mm. and as a natural light shooter, a 1.4 lens works for me better.

that zeiss 24 1.8 is crazy-good. Better than my CZ 24 f2 SSM all-around from what I've seen.

but yeah ,, canon is not answering to anything sony puts out apparently

Let go and let live ;-)a

Canon moves at a glacial pace, this shouldnt be new.

as far as I'm concerned, sony already has the recipe for the ultimate camera, and for my practical purposes, the A7rii will have a long life, going to shoot it until it cant shoot no more***. Of course I'll still update to the latest sony cam for a more polished feel (A9r), but I'm incredibly satisfied with the rii. Future sony bodies are like icing at the moment, I feel that the core features are all there as is, newer bodies are more polished and bells and whistles. Canon has a lot of ommissions, and if you're playing the waiting game with them..... well good luck with that. I dont want to grow old and full of regrets :p

*** I'm a dual body shooter and love owning multiple bodies.
