that zeiss 24 1.8 is crazy-good. Better than my CZ 24 f2 SSM all-around from what I've seen.

It really is a fantastic lens. Small, lightweight, sharp wide open, good colors, and a nice close min focus distance. It's my most used....which is funny cause when I was shooting 5Dx's I was a big 85mm fan with 35mm being second.

Hope you don't mind a few more examples.

i have two options.

1. Sell the A7RII+2470GM

= A9+85GM + FE28F2 + Minolta 58mm F1.2 + Canon FD20mm F2.8

i know the sell of the two is not enough for the A9 but I'm willing to add some $$$ to get it.

2. just sell the 2470GM and FE28F2

= A7RII + 85GM + FE35F1.4 + Minolta 58mm F1.2 + Canon FD20mm F2.8 + $$

if that's your only options, which one do you prefer?

It depends on how OK you are with 28mm in lieu of your 24-70. It's a stylistic preference, but I prefer 35mm over 28mm and would probably go with option 2 if I had to pick. Glass > Body if it comes down to a focal length decision.

Edit:

Your idea of going with a 35 f2.8 earlier is actually not a bad one....and that little samyang 35 f2.8 looks solid. It's boring stylistically, but so are 24-70 zooms....but they work really well for documentary stuff, and that's what you need for weddings/events.

after waiting on the 80d and being disappointed and then waiting on the 5d4 and being disappointed ..

ive learned what to expect from canon..

i'm quite happy with my new 80d ..even tho I was disappointed with its specs when it was first released ..
specs wise it loses to the a6500, theres no doubt about that
yet i'm happier and more enthusiastic about shooting the 80d then I ever was about the a6500
but that says more about the a6500 then about my thoughts on sony , as i'm still very enthusiastic about shooting my a7sII even with its slow AF

I've learned based on canons actions , that they have no interest in what sony is doing ..

and while it still confuses me why they wont bite back.. it is what it is..

i'm no longer surprised about what they wont include in the 6DII,, its pretty much what I expected ,,more actually..

For myself , sony does have a good recipe , but ther are just a few ingredients missing
which is why I've dipped back into canon ..

I'd always regretted selling the a7s, required at the time to justify the a7rii. Now the a7s is back, well kinda, it
is hiding in the a9. Here is Milo, ISO 25,600.....but what does this truly mean? It was a jpg with default camera settings.
I did pull shadows +48 in Bridge and resized wide size for this upload-

yah i would go with option2

A7RII
85GM
FE35F14

sell the 28mm since its too close to 35 and i like the 35 FL more and aperture wise
