Well something else came out of that photo.
Me downloading Cap 1 Pro 10 and beginning the process of learning the ropes, and
looking into whether I should shoot RBG vs sRGB then convert? If shooting raw then
does that matter? I don't think so. Now trying to learn/decide if when you import
into Cap1Pro10 16 bit? 8 bit? When I transfer to Photoshop when do I convert to sRGB.
So lots of puzzles to riddle through

Of course if any here are using C1P10 a step by step recipe would be appreciated so I
don't have to re-invent the wheel !!

i shot with adobeRGB. When i go to photoshop through C1 or LR, I always set it to ProPhotoRGB TIFF and 16-bit. and that's for landscape and portrait

for weddings since there's hundreds of photos, I'll make sure the exposure and white balance are right then I export them all to full resolution jpeg and 300dpi. then i will edit and save in PS if needed. I don't like going back and forth to LR or C1 because it will kill your time.

Sony a9. 1 Profoto B1 above and camera right. This was shot at -5 EV on a black background, with subject in a black suit. Nailed AF first try no issues. Second pic is a 100% crop.

Hey Vin and everyone else who can chime in; I've read a bunch of reviews regarding the a7r II not being capable of being a wedding camera but has that been exaggerated or is it true.
I know the autofocus isn't the best, obviously eye af isn't as good as a9 but is it good enough?
Gone through so many comments on YouTube/internet but respect everyone's comments here

I just used mine a couple of weeks ago. I never have any issues with autofocus at all throughout the day. The A9 maybe better but the price tag is way too high for me.

A7RII... i can really tell the Rii is sharper.

One thing I say is that with the 24-70GM bags that fit your gear before might not fit. I was using a few smaller lens cases and inserts that no longer fit the camera with 24-70 GM.

I think I've settled on a new bag to order, the Lowepro Flipside Trek 350. Gives me the rear access that I was looking for. I don't like traditional backpacks with a front opening both in terms of a gear safety and they all open completely so a quick pull and all your gear can fall out. Side opening packs tend to have a small camera compartment or in he case of the Peak Design is a little too open for me. I had the old Flipside Sport which I liked but had no room for personal items. This one has both space for personal items for the kids, a large enough pack compartment to hold my a9, 24-70, and maybe 2-3 other smaller primes. Looks like it would fit a 70-200 GM if needed. Let's see how this turns out!

I've shot bunch of weddings on the a7rII and it worked fine. The camera is a bit on the sluggish side, but its otherwise fine. AF is more than good enough for weddings.....particula​rly the AF sensitivity. It focuses very well in low light. High ISO performance is very good too.

For your style of controlled shooting the a7rII makes more sense. For me and shooting my kids moving around, the added benefits of the a9 are great, but for your work the a7rII allows you to keep with 1.4 primes that you love,

How is that 58 1.2? I'm looking for a 50ish option and not wanting to drop $700+ on the 55 1.8 and the 1,200 on the 1.4.

I'm actually looking forward to when the Voigtlnader primes will drop, in particular that 40mm 1.2. I'm always split between whether I like a 35 or a 50 and for a while I had the 28mm on the a6300 and wondered why I liked the results so much, then I realized with the crop factor it was a 42mm equivalent, or right in between a 35 and a 50. A fast 40mm 1.2 with electronic communication so I don't have to guess exif data will be nice to have.

Yes for those tightly framed wide open shots the difference in sharpness is obvious in the eyes.

For a7R II portrait shooters the only camera GAS they should have is for the a7R III (or maybe an a9R). a9 is just the latest shiny thing that serves as an unnecessary distraction for some shooters.

a9 makes great sense for journalist, wedding, action shooters...outside of those areas it doesn't make sense to me.

I agree. Once I stop honeymooning with the a9, the a7RII will be my primary cam for posed portraiture.

I wonder when a bit of a plateau will be hit..?
seems like with sony's mirrorless , there seems to be a lot happening relatively quickly ..
I mean for those of you who have been with the sony full frame from the beginning about 2013 , or even the E mount
a7 and a7r to what we have now.. AF that many laughed at if you said it was for pro work ,,, to Now with the A9 whos AF has caught the attention of many ,, sure it comes at a price ,, but the tech is there for mirrorless ..

I mean they cant possibly keep up this rate of progress for much longer , right?
I guess only time will tell

compared to the traditional dslr's where people wait 4 years for the next version , and then you only really get it because you want the latest and greatest , but not because things have Improved so drastically that it becomes a must have ..
