It looks sleazy and unsafe.

These little towns and the people in them are neither sleazy or dangerous. After photographing here, I had some very nice conversation with folks down the road at another shuttered establishment.

I don't doubt it, but the building and signage seem crude and amateurish. If I were traveling alone, I'd be wary of the place.

When I was very young, a college student, I once checked into a hotel by myself. The men sitting around in the lobby thought I'd come there "on business." One of them followed me up in the elevator and made an offer. That was scary.

I thought it was classic small town southwest and very well done, but I understand it may not translate to those who don't usually travel these types of roads. Thanks for the feedback.

Oh, the photo is well done. I'm only saying the subject gives an impression of being a low-end bar where an unaccompanied woman might not be treated respectfully. In other words, the building looks cheap. I hope you won't misunderstand. That the photo gives such a strong impression of any kind of atmosphere is evidence of its quality.

Exactly what I was trying to convey. The Talpa Tavern actually had a two star Michelin rating up until they closed for business.
