POTN G-Series Speed Challenge #643 – Someone Special

I lost a friend to cancer yesterday, but became a great uncle the day before. Life is like that. But it has me thinking about those in our lives who are special to us. Show me yours. Doesn't have to be a human, either. Pets work equally well.

To submit, click the button labeled 'POST TO THREAD' and put your Photo Title in the first line of the post, above your photo. Don't forget your Camera Model.

Post until Monday noon GMT, 26 June 2017.

Photo Submissions

1. Camera -- Canon G-Series Camera G1, G2, G3, G5, G6, G7, G9, G10, G11, G12, G15, G16, G1X, G1X Mark II, G3 X, G5X, G7 X , G7X MKII, and Pro1 only.

2. Time -- any on-topic photo taken at any time is eligible, although photos that have won other competitions should NOT be entered.

3. Size -- photo must be no less than 800 pixels and no more than 1280 pixels on the longest side, with NO BORDERS.
-
4. Post-Processing -- do whatever you like and the host will decide if it works.

5. Posting
a. One photo per photographer in each challenge.
b. Photo Title in the first line of the post.
c. Camera model.
d. EXIF data, if you like.
-
6. Commenting -- No commenting on photos by anyone, including the photographer. Once the winners are declared, photographers can add comments to their images and everyone is invited to discuss.

7. Photo Display -- Photos must appear in this thread to be eligible.

Time

One challenge every week, on the following schedule:
New Topic ... As soon as possible after winning.
Posting Starts ... Right after topic is announced.
Posting Stops ... Monday noon GMT
Winners Announcement ... As soon as possible, max. until Tuesday noon GMT.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Click FOLLOW THREAD in the top right of the challenge's thread page. Notifications of new posts will appear below the POTN logo and the main links in the top of each forum page. Note: Email notifications are not active at the moment, they will be available soon. Pay attention to your PMs or 'Heads Up!' messages. This will allow the host, helpful members or moderators to contact you about winning or ineligible photos. Thank you.
Contest closed. I was hoping for more shots, but the ones posted here certainly fit the theme. Thanks to all.
I'm going to go with teekay's shot because it reminds me so much of my mother and her Chromebook. She resisted letting me buy her one for years, and now that she has one, she can't put it down.
All yours, teekay.
Congratulations Teekay, and thanks for hosting and judging, I too thought there would be far more entries than there was.
Congratulations Teekay. And congratulations to the others who entered :-). Excellent photos by all.
This was an easy contest to enter. My only problem was deciding which photo to use. Thanks Mark for the challenge.
Thanks, M_Six!
Actually I did think this was a tough one for many - at least for me. Some "special people" photos were taken with other than G-series cameras, some people wouldn't or didn't want their photos posted, many don't have cute small kids, and other "specials" were not available to ask, etc.
I'll try and get a new challenge up later today.
P.S. OK, it's up - an easy one, so I hope lots of entries,:-)
It was tough enough for me, for some of the reasons you gave, that I didn't enter. I don't usually take pictures of people at all. That's all right, a new challenge comes along every week.
PRONOUN ADVISORY: OhLook is a she. | A FEW CORRECT SPELLINGS: lens, aperture, amateur, hobbyist, per se, raccoon, whoa, more so (2 wds.), shoo-in | IMAGE EDITING OK
Congrats to Teekay...loved the shot. The toughest part for me is trying to get my 14 yr old camera to focus......it is getting harder & harder for me to be patient with it while it hunts & hunts for a focus point.
Nice entries from everyone!!
