Any tutorial videos out on how to use the new features in the a7R II v. 4.0 firmware update? I'm just now updating my camera.

Pushing the pixel density. a9 in crop mode. Bierd 15-20 yards away.
Why not crop in post? I know. Just experimenting. Flickr EXIF if you click on EXIF
and scroll down reports 450mm.

Dumb AF question...how do I get the camera to track someone? Do I have to hold the focus button down or will it track automatically? I'm asking because right now nothing seems to be working that way in either af c or af a modes. Need something other than flexible spot?

Sheesh, I can't believe how dumb I am when it comes to AF...just have the brain of a long-time MFer. Umm, errr, that would mean "manual focuser". ;).

Is your AF mode set to 2 second timer? Needs to be single shot or burst.

Yeah, have it in single shot. Just wondering if I'm not mixing up the AF behavior of video with stills.

One more question, lately - even before my updating the firmware - these weird brackets showed up on my screen...what do those do? And should/can I switch them off?

I believe those brackets is the PDAF coverage area. I don't remember seeing them until recently.

Ah, that's it Alfredo. Thanks.

And I think the AF behavior I was looking for is the "Pre AF" setting. I had it switched off because somebody on YT told me too. ;)

Really loving having my Sigma 35mm Art as a cheap fast stop-gap 35mm solution............... until Zeiss makes me a Batis 35mm f/1.8. You read me Zeiss? I want f/1.8. F/2 would be fine, but would rather see nothing but f/1.8 from 35mm to 85mm.

I am becoming a major Batis fanboy. :D

Samyang missed a golden opportunity when they made another 35 f2.8 instead of an f2!

what are you guys shooting and for what, that you need more than 5fps & 24mpx?

Any kind of photography where you're capturing things as they happen can benefit from 5+ fps....maybe not 20fps....but definitely more than 5

Be sure your focus area is set to "wide" and AF continuous. When you half press the shutter button, you'll see several small squares dancing around as it tries to maintain focus.

My new toy that arrived today. I think this is going to be a fun lens to play with. I haven't had much time to try it but it seems very easy to use thanks to Sony's great MF tools built into their cameras.

This lens is designed for Sony E mounts so it has an extended portion not found on this lens for other bodies. It's like it has an adapter built on and just attaches to my Sony a7rII like any other native lens.
