Got my Sigma 18-35 f/1.8 Art today and I'm surprised how small it is compared to the Sigma 50-100 f/1.8. ln my limited testing it focuses great, and doesn't have the front- or back-focusing issues that was common with earlier copies.

Should make a great compliment to the Sigma 50-100, and should replace both my 18-135 IS STM and my 30mm f/1.4 Art in my bag and make room for my Tokina 11-16 f/2.8 to make for 3 fast lenses to cover 11-100mm FL.

Canon EF 35MM f/2 IS
Sigma 85mm f/1.4
Canon 100mm f/2.8L IS
Canon 17-40mm f/4L which is soon to be replaced by the 16-35mm f/4L

Most used is the 35mm and I'll probably use the 85mm more when I get my 6D2 :D

May I ask what is your experience for the Sigma 50-100mm f/1,8 compared to the Sigma 18-35mm f/1,8?
I am targeting (saving up) this Sigma 50-100mm f/1,8.

I am also wondering should I save up more for the Canon 70-200mm f/2,8.

Tamron's most recent 70-200 was meant to be a really good performer, would that be easier to save up for than the Canon?

I love the Sigma 50-100 f/1.8 Art, but it depends what kind of camera you plan to use it with whether I'd recommend it or not. Because it's internal focusing you can really feel the internals moving around when it's focusing. The Canon EOS M3 Mirrorless had a lot of trouble focusing this monster in AI Servo, causing lots of knocking and banging of the focus mechanism as it struggled to move the oversized internals.

The 80D and 7D2 don't have this issue, so I think it might have to do with lack of power and the low weight of the mirrorless body. The 50-100 is very solidly built, but is pretty large and heavy for all day carrying.

I chose between the 50-100 and the various 70-200 lenses myself, and it came down to 2 questions:

1. Do you need more light or more reach? f/1.8 makes a significant difference in light gathering ability, and helps keep the SS up to make up for lack of IS.
2. Do you plan to upgrade to full frame in the next two years? The 50-100 is made for crop cameras, and is basically the crop equivalent of 70-200 but with slightly less reach or zoom range.

I would find 70-200 on a crop too long, and if I needed the reach would get a Sigma 100-400 instead. I preferred the fast aperture of the 50-100 though, and will stick with my 150-600 if I need more reach.

EF 70-210 f3.5-4.5 USM lens, Non IS
EF 28-105 f3.5-4.5 USM II
EF 50mm f1.8 STM
EFS 24mm 2.8 pancake lens
EF-S 10-18mm f4.5-5.6 IS STM
EF 85mm f1.8 USM
EF 70-200mm f4L IS USM

My Canon cameras are two 40Ds, a 30D, and a 300D.

I have just purchased the EF 70-200mm f4L lens, and is on delivery. Can't wait to test it out.

Current line up is:

Sigma 35mm f/1.4 Art
Canon 50mm f/1.2L
Sigma 85mm f/1.4 EX DG HSM
Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L II

Seriously thinking of dumping the Sigma 85mm and picking up either an 85mm f/1.2L or a 135mm f/2L.
I love the Sigma 85...when it works. Focus is such a hit and miss with that lens.
