Do you mean that, a 6D is not needed if we have a 80D? Because, my friend got an 80D(wildlife photography) and suggested me buying a FF like 6D(for landscape/night photography) so that we can swap based on our needs. I am a noob in photography.

Would want to see night images framed the same from both cameras to answer this one. The 6D is one of the best Canon has produced for night work.

So is the 7D2... It is one of the better astro cameras, even beating out the 6D.

I haven't heard much about how cameras that came out after the 7D2 compare, but yes, the black frame noise swells in the 7D2 an order of magnitude slower than the 6D. I tested them a while back, and at ISO 6400 the 6D had 0.9 stops less black frame noise at 1/4000, barely less at 30 seconds, and at a minute, the 6D was noisier. At ISO 100, they both start out with about the same read noise at 1/4000, and goes downhill immediately for the 6D as the exposure is increased (but at ISO 100, it takes a long time to make a visible compromise as the dark current noise does not become a significant part of the noise for quite a while).

Makes one think that the now discussed 'heat' issues that seem to be plaguing Sony high res video acquisition particularly with FF sensors is also borne out in the long exposure resistance to black frame noise in APS-C sensors (compared to FF)
