Hi all,

An image that I captured at aphelion (when the Earth is furthest from the Sun) two years ago is being featured as NASA's "Astronomy Picture of the Day" for today :-)

The link is here:

https://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap170705.html (external link)

The image, which was taken with my 6D and 70-200 f/4L, captures the Sun rising behind the buildings of Brisbane. I first took an image of the buildings just after the start of dawn, and then I waited till the Sun rose and took an exposure every 3 minutes using a home-made Baader solar filter. All these images were then stacked to produce the final result.

Thanks for looking!

Cheers,
Stephen

Well done, Stephan. Congrats on the inclusion of your photo. Oddly, I loaded the APOD site just before I looked at your thread here and did a double take.
