The more I reflect on the amazing FE 12-24mm, and my desire to add it, the more mental clarity I'm getting that the 12-24mm should come at the expense of my Batis 18mm........and filters are a primary reason.
My 25mm, 35mm, 85mm, and 135mm lenses all share a common 67mm filter thread. And it is wonderful! I love the conciseness and efficiency of it. But, the Batis 18mm takes a 77mm, so I have been packing an extra set three filters (CPL, 3-stop ND, & variable ND) just for that one lens. The 12-24mm, obviously, can't take a filter, so if I dropped the 18/added the 12-24mm my focal lengths would be 12-24mm, 25mm, 35mm, 85mm, and 135mm. Five exceptional lenses, and only one set of filters.
This is also why I won't be switching from Batis 18/25mm to Loxia 21mm, don't want yet another filter size to accomodate.
Also, am all done with the 100mm square/rectangle filters and Lee bracket racket...going to sell all that off. Too bulky and messy to schlep around.
