Question for all of you marvelous pros: how do you manage to get the natural smiles that so many of these seniors have? Ask them to smile? Other? Fantastic work throughout this thread!

To be honest with you, not all kids/adults has a great smile, especially when they are not comfortable with the camera or with someone they don't connect well. WE just post the ones we like :-)

Just get them comfortable and then doing whatever comes natural as for facial expressions. I've found that sometimes parents want a smile and seniors don't and vice versa. This girl wouldn't smile to save her life until Mom finally talked her into it and I said I could whiten her teeth a bit. (lightroom works for that).

I have been a flash juniie for about 4 years and the timing is tough (for me anyways) on getting natural smiles. I am working on my natural light skills, and it seems easier to stay focussed behind the camera and take a couple of more shots (I shoot in silent mode, so my shutter is not loud) Hope that helps a little bit

nothing to crazy.. my rep pay a set fee and basically we do initially 2 sessions to get a good array of material.. i then create them some material to hand out and share on social media.. for every senior they refer back to me they initially get print credits for the first 5 referrals.. after which they have the option to continue print credits or i pay the senior a set amount per senior they refer... if they do well i will do another 1 or 2 sessions depending on how well they refer seniors to me
