Thanks to all who are giving advice on a flash setup for off camera use. Hard decision--GoDox vs. Nissin, why? Well I have a couple
of the Nissin i40s for different platforms and I think they are great, but the monies saved via Godox is notable.....still studying.

On a different note I'm glad I kept this kit lens, the 28-70. Many shamed it because it's a kit....I always loved the weight. Maybe it didn't resolve
on the 42mpx sensor? but what do you think on the 24mpx sensor? and this is after sundown. I guess I like it because I can have it in a pocket and not feel weighed down.

The GAS on this thread is contagious. :p I just ordered the Sony FE 12-24 to replace my Canon EF 16-35 f/4 which I'm putting up for sale later today.

So this just happened. Wrist strap on my a7rii which had the B85 attached. Luckily I was holding the camera with my left hand at the time (with wrist strap over right wrist) and I just felt it come away and looked down to see that. It's one of those optech connectors that it uses. Thank goodness I was holding the camera at the time! The loop that broke was through the sony triangle which had the black plastic insert on it so no sharp edges

^Thanks.

The Canon FD20mm is so cheap to sell so I just ordered a used OEM lens hood of it from KEH.

If you avoid the sun, the lens performs so well.

i love shooting with a wide lens for travel. I love my 16-35 to bits but sometimes i am thinking if there is a multi focal rangefinder lens i can use to replace it. Theres the Tri Elmar WATE but its 6k USD. Theres the Konica 21-35 but just 21 and i need wider.

i want to really make use of the sony a7s small size by using a very small lens as well but i feel so naked without my 16-35 zoom when i travel.

any other ideas??

More playing around with lights....trying to play with the shape of the strip box to paint a highlight horizontally down the lens barrel.

Pull back shot below. The gridded speedlight moved around as I was experimenting with exposing different parts of the camera. The "a9" is more underexposed than I would like.

a7rII + 24-70II.

carlo - pre. try to remove all reflected light from the front element. This would result to a black lens in the picture. after that you can introduce the strip light but dont let it pop - just open the modelling light and position it so that the light generated from it reflects into the lens of the camera you are using to capture the scene. This should theoretically let you capture the strip shape and the light and would show better since it will be surrounded by black glass. youll have a very distinct shape though - a clear rectangle with edges

for A7RII owners, do you think the LENR is needed for long exposures?

when i shoot the fireworks, i got less shot because my LENR was on and it's annoying.

I didn't but went ahead and made one quickly. There isn't much room so I split the first and last name. :-)

I could probably do a little better job if I spent a little more time on it but you get the idea anyway.
