Archibald You must be quackers! More info | Jul 09, 2017 12:08 | #17815 Had some issues with the AF of my 7D2. The AF would not work when I was too far away. It used to focus when the viewfinder was seriously fuzzy before, but it suddenly stopped doing that. I use BBF, and pressing it did nothing when the view was too out-of-focus. If I got the subject somewhat focused by turning the focus ring, then the AF would work normally. But that was inconvenient, and sometimes the moment would have passed. I forget the term... not 'shoot'... too lazy to look.. I missed a shot this morning with my 150-600 Siggy because it was at 600mm and it didn't want to focus. In that case I just zoon back a bit and AF then locks right in - but missed the shot in this case... For AI Servo image priority, both were set for Equal priority (AFAIK). Arch, there is a parameter under the focus tab="lens drive when AF impossible". You can turn it on or off. Could be the culprit. MIKEIVAN

I'm sure canon thought it a good joke to play. Some do not believe until it is their turn. This camera is prone to things setting it off and a reset is the answer. I'm not one to constantly change setting because I know it will bite me in the you know what!! I leave the AF set to case 5 and about never change it. I use spot 99% of the time and centre group on birds in flight. I had big trouble with the back wheel and now the top wheel jumps to what ever it chooses, forward back ward not at all. It chooses and I live with it. Cant even bring myself to think about sending it in. Not really sure what to do about it but take 4 times longer to adjust on the fly. There is no setting maladjustment that will put the 7DII into a tail spin except making a change the shouldn't affect the outcome one gets. If you spend enough time with this camera you get to see the side of it I don't like.. Jeff ........, 7D, 70-300L, 100-400LII
