Backyard feeding station/photo site-

My latest "brain"storm-A backyard photo site that can be relocated as the needs change. My thinking is for hummingbirds in the summer and regular feeders other times in a different location.

Checked this morning and wetness at the post-slow leak at dam around 4x4. Think for now, I'll treat like I do on my plumbing work in the house, with our very hard water, wait a few days. It may seal itself.
Have not seen any visitors as yet but we're gone last evening.
Guess I didn't mention the seed tray on top using vinyl deck scraps. Put raw peanuts in the shell there for the Bluejays.

Great idea and nice work. I would think that you'd have an easier time plumbing the post if you had fewer stakes on the bottom. One should be enough hold it upright. Another option would be to drive in a commercial 4x4 post base at locations where you plan to move the feeder, then when you want to move it, just unbolt the post leaving the stake base behind.

Hey Larry, good ideas! Not sure I'll use the comm'l. base idea, at least for now. Maybe firm up some location selections first. But will seriously consider removing 2 of the stakes. Easier to drive into the ground that way, too. Thank you!!!

I think so too, but it depends upon whom you ask.

Modification #1-added baitwell plug to the moat/bath saucer to facilitate washout and cleaning.

Here is my main set up. A tray feeder, a suet feeder, a small bird shaped feeder, a bird bath, and an Oriole nectar feeder. I also have some single feeders spread across the yard and in my pasture.

Judging from the wooded area behind, I bet they are busy. Squirrelsearch much of a problem?

Think I'll use the top platform to just set a flower pot on next year. Seed up there creates too much of a mess in the moat/bath tray below. Otherwise, liking it.

I'm happy to report that the hummers have finally arrived at the feeders. Saw the first one on Aug 9th and have seen them every day since. I don't always seen them arrive at the feeder, but when they leave, they're always heading south. The ones I see in the morning stop for a quick refueling and off they go. Some of the ones I see in the evening stop for a much longer drink. A layover, I suppose. Filmed one for two minutes on the feeder the other evening. Numbers seem to be steadily increasing. Saw 15-20 yesterday. Only one could be identified as a male; a young one whose throat hadn't yet turned full ruby. Looks like migration is in full swing.

They visit both the commercial feeder and the homemade bottle feeder with a coke bottle cap as the flower.
