I hadn't shot any bees in a while now. Decided to remedy that today:

The photo of the red squirrel was taken yesterday in a park in Toronto.
The chipmunk lives in my firewood pile and yes, I feed him...............I think he adopted me.

Well my 80D has arrived - no idea how to use it, but seem to have fluked a BOG (Bird on Grass) this afternoon :). This is a Superb Fairy Wren female (or juvenile male). Very impressed by feather detail etc. Picture is not quite SOOC - cropped about 1/4 (ie 75% still there) and light tweaked slightly, but no sharpening or noise reduction.

Your lens has a lot to do with the detail and sharpness. More than the camera really

While I know you are right, this body gives me 50% more reach than my only other body, so that has to count for something :). The focusing is very different to what I am used to - I need to read the manual, as ATM I have no control over which focus points are grabbing focus .

I finally pulled the trigger. I've been going back and forth for a year, new lens, new camera, 7DII or 80D. Been shooting with 60D and kit 18-55 and 85mm since the start. Added a flash and it helped that kit lens tremendously. Finally decided to upgrade the body, as the kids are still relatively small so no need for long reach sports lens yet. I really liked what I was hearing about the focus upgrades, so now I get to see if they're for real or not :) Costco online had a decent deal, 1299 for body, 2 batteries, and 2 kit lenses, 18-55 and 55-250. I had an old 18-55, I think it's had 2-3 upgrades since i got my original one.

I realize the kit lenses aren't very sought after, but I liked the quality I got with my old stuff, I figured it's not going to get worse for what I need :) Besides, I sold my 60D and kit lens to someone else. so I needed something besides the 85 as it's too close for indoors for me. I used to shoot sports with a 300-400 a long time ago (not my equipment) but since i haven't had anything longer than my 85 1.8. Interested to see how the 55-250 works. Seems to give good quality for others assuming there's good light. Batteries are charging, can't wait to start taking pictures again. This thread had a lot to do with pushing me over the edge, LOL Thanks!

Happy shooting. I've had my 80D for a few months now and I'm really liking it over my old 40D. Just a quick tip, check out your 55-250 and see if you need to MFA it. I think mine is focusing a little off and needs to be MFA'd however I'm a little intimidated by what's involved and haven't done it yet, trying to get my nerves up to try it. :)
