A couple of black & white portraits of professional female athletes from a recent press conference i covered.

Processing was done with DxO Optics Pro to get a beautiful black & white conversion.

I love the second one, I would crop half of the sky though, but that's just my opinion, great work!

lots of great things about both images posted - only comment on this picture is the crop - almost always, a good rule is not to crop at the ankles - either higher up the leg or include the feet

Hockey and wedding photographer. Favourite camera / lens combos: a 1DX II with a Tamron 45 1.8 VC, an A7Rii with a Canon 24-70F2.8L II, and a 5DSR with a Tamron 85 1.8 VC. Every lens I own I strongly recommend [Canon (35Lii, 100L Macro, 24-70F2.8ii, 70-200F2.8ii, 100-400Lii), Tamron (45 1.8, 85 1.8), Sigma 24-105]. If there are better lenses out there let me know because I haven't found them.

That is true. I have had another person telling me the same. I could have cropped it better or framed it differently.:-)

I would offer:

1) in first picture, I don't see the extreme left of the picture adding to the photo in any way - as such, I would crop in 8x10 fully in from the left - the added benefit is that the best part of the picture is magnified and it places the model almost exactly at the rule of 3rds

2) in the second picture, the foreground bokeh (the yellow lines) from the 135L can be often 'distracting' (it is the only weakness of this lens in certain situations) - as such, I would crop it 5x7 trimming off half the amount of yellow lines below her feet - this keeps most of the 4x6 shape and helps further place the model closer to the rule of 3rds

In terms of additional editing that is photog specific, I might very, very slightly warm both photos (very slightly) and I might also use a few radial filters in LR to bring a 1/4-1/3 EV to her face and might also use a graduated filter pulled from top right corner with some additional exposure to bring a simulated direction of light to the image
