Thx Robert, they started a project years ago to clean the waters and to reconstruct the shores down the river and now they are returning in great numbers.

I envy you that photo! Nice one! I'm no expert on these, but, for what it's worth, I think your bird is a Parasitic Jaeger. It doesn't look deep chested enough for a Pomerine and darker birds like this one typically show two white underwing flashes, a big one and a smaller one.

Thanks! Yeah, I feel pretty lucky to have been that close to one. I've never even seen a jaeger before this.

Thanks for your input on the ID. The jaegers are really tough to ID!
