The 64 m dish of the Parkes Radio Telescope sits below the Moon in this image taken at about 1am on Sunday morning. I think the presence of the Moon in the image is appropriate, given the key role played by the Parkes dish during the Apollo 11 Moonwalk and subsequent Apollo missions :)

The Moon is at perigee today (when it is closest to Earth in its orbit), and this coincided with it being a thin crescent in the dawn sky. Here it is rising over Brisbane city :)

Really cloudy evening in So Cal so did not expect to see the one day old Moon, but a little break formed and we got about a 2 minute window. Here are a couple of very quick shots.
Best,
Steve

I'm a 'best I can get for the cheapest dollar' budget kindof gal.
So I went and bought one of those Opteka 500mm mirror lenses. probably used, from Amazon. (i'm sure it was a return)

I'm not impressed with it, hand held, trying to dial in the focus, but stick it on the tripod and use live view- process in LR and I'm ok with this for $85.
