I have had no concerns with mine and think the two "issues" you mention are a little over blown.

I would not call the battery door "flimsy". While not as robust as the doors on the DSLR models, it is solid and snaps firmly and securely in place.

The "give" on the grip I believe is simply a matter of a molded plastic piece that doesn't have .000 tolerance to the surface it is mounted too. If you squeeze harder than ever necessary on the grip, you will notice a slight give. I had my M5 for about a month before I heard of the issue and had not ever noticed it. Once I read Bantu it, I went and squeezed my grip and sure enough felt the ever so slight give under pressure.

Unless you really ham fist it, I doubt you would be aware of it without have read of it.

Totally agree ......

Just read a review of the EF - M 18 150 in Practical Photography the May edition. They scored it 5 out of 5 and said best lens on test, of ten they tested. I've been thinking about it for a while for a travel lens, so will definitely get one some time (before any overseas travel).

I took all these a few weeks ago with the Canon EF-M 11-22mm f/4-5.6 IS lens and I was pretty impressed with it.

Napier. Did some bracketing today ... not something I've done a lot of with this camera. Had the dog so all handheld, as couldn't manage tripod as well.

^ Nice!
bought a spare battery today - ker-ching! NZ$79.99
Next week her indoors will be taking the M5 to Brisbane & hopefully come home with pics of my son winning medals at a Karate championship.
Basic instructions on operation include leave the shutter speed above 1/250 & fiddle with the ISO until the liveview isn't too dark...
Wish I were going!

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", 1D MK II converted for IR, and now an M5
