That is so true. So let me make it clear, BBF won't engage IBIS?

Sorry for being slow but.....Please clarify....BBF won't engage IBIS? Is this correct? That would explain why I've never felt the IBIS was all that impressive.

After MF shooting with the a7r/135 1.8, the a77ii/Minolta 200 HS/2xTC felt like cheating.

I could be wrong but I think its only on when you half press the shutter or focus magnify. So if you BBF then quickly press the shutter button you probably are not giving the IBIS enough time to get up to speed and stabilise properly.

Like I say though I could be wrong, but with BBF I think you are only changing what button focusses as opposed to what button activates IBIS

Great set Mickey. My favorite is the caiman in the little hands.

Got it. So, I guess if I'm using BBF exclusively, no shutter button at all, I'm not likely engaging the IBIS. I've only recently gone back to using the shutter button on occasion. I'm gonna do some experimenting later tonight with low SS's....BBF vs shutter button.
Thanks

yeah that's what I think happens. You will get a split second if ibis when you take the photo but it's probably not enough to get up to speed

This I found to be the case where the sony app didnt help and it was better to have a nice dark ND filter on you

I agree. The app doesn't work as well for fast moving water or clouds. Use a combination of an ND filter and the app.

^^ I have some falls shots where I used the app to capture the water motion and then exited the app for a properly exposed shot of the sky. Then blended.

I think I used a combination of both at Jokulsarlon, but on some of the shots (i took waders along) I didn't have time for all the shots the app wanted.
