Can ya tell my work is narrow in scope? ;-)a

Photographing pits can be one of the worst and one of the best experiences. The group, the gear, and God all have a factor in it. Gear malfunctions, people get tired, cameras die. Not withstanding the gear involved just for photography - vertical rope work in cave requires a fair amount of experience and knowledge to safely execute (there are lots of ways to succesfully do it, safe is another issue).

Lately I have been completely in love with the 5D Mark IIIs multiple exposure capability. All were done with that feature.

More coming up soon, but enjoy:

Emily Dillon climbing the 208' Triple Wells in Newberry-Banes Cave, Virginia. Three exposures: Number 5 flashbulb from below and the model held M2s.

Wayne Perkins (assistant from the last photo) climbing up Triple Wells. Each exposure had a bare bulb. This shot required special rigging apart from the rigging the rope used. I placed a bolt and hung myself, the tripod, and the camera out over the 208ft drop while Wayne climbed. What a show!

The Rumble Room, Rumbling Falls Cave, Tennessee - both lit with massive Number 50 flashbulbs (5.5million lumens!). Drop into the room is 201'.

And my favorite. Reilly Blackwell climbing the 230ft up and out of Moses Tomb in Alabama. Used a synched strobe below her to get some detail.

It might be better if they were visible here instead of having to download each picture.
