That guy would probably look good with a dusting of snow on him. Do they hang around in the winter?ߙ

From last night, the fledgling was sitting on a fallen branch and being very still so as to not make itself a dinner.

So sorry to see that you've been ill, I don't write much (even when I contribute photos here) but have to say that I always look forward to your images and insights.

That is so kind of you to say. Thank you very much, Michael.

No they don't Terry, I do get the northern birds, grosbeaks, red poles, siskins, but the little ones head south to the warmer climate. We do have a winter crew, white and red nut hatches, Downie and hairy, black backs, pileated, chickadee, and of course the Canada Jay of which never leave their range and lay their eggs mid winter with 6 feet of snow on the ground. Thus the reason they are called camp robbers, they adapted to finding and hiding food so they can feed their young with no bugs and ground food sources.

Is it hot anywhere but here? Currently 93F/heat index 102F :(
I lasted outside at best 10 mins.

I'm right there with you. We get above 95 on a regular basis with humidity at about 60%......ahhhh....refreshing. But I stay out a lot longer. Once your clothes are sweat soaked through its ok.

But I do run into a problem when the sweat runs down my arms onto my hands and makes holding my camera a bit difficult. Gotta keep a sweat rag handy. 8-)

My first attempt at the obligatory duck photos. I was probably changing settings way too often, but I enjoyed a lot of what I took. I just couldn't seem to get the flights in focus. I also tried my 70-200 f2.8 IS II, but it seemed to not have enough reach at times. Any comments would be welcome.

Nice environment and good exposure, but in my opinion these seems to lack the last 10 % of sharpness, and could be cropped to much or your equipment need a micro adjustment. It seems like the ducks are swimming downhill/not horizontal and if it were my pictures and possibly at this place, I would have preferred to be at my stomach in a lower angel/trying to be at the same level as the ducks. ;-)a

Thank you. Good idea on lowering my level. I was on a slope where it meets the water, but probably could have moved down waterline a little to get a little lower to the water. I've never checked the micro adjustment on the 300. I may have cropped them too close too. Or a combination of both. Thanks for the ideas.
