Gene you are right about the working distance using the EOS 24-70/4 for macro, this shot via the 180mm
Tamron macro-

OK David, sport or art? Planning, execution and pulling it off. I think on this one I came closest ever
to my eye. It's a 3 hour drive to the trailhead but the last 5 miles on curvy mountainous road and within the last mile a gigantic tree blocking the road. The driving work around took another hour, then the hike begins to the top for the shot all the time driving and hiking thinking of the MW's position and do I have enough time. Then of course no foreground object on top so the foreground object had to be me and the 10 second timer.

Waterfall photography is very similar. For Widow Creek falls if we'd tried one day earlier it would have been over run with kids swimming in the lower pools and while hiking up to the falls we saw a ranger with a bag of trash he'd just collected there! Another 30 min's and the Sun would have ruined the shot.

Now if anyone has the Milky Way its Eriet! I bet he feels about it like I do waterfalls :)

Beautiful. Nice colors. You're making me really want one! :)
I agree with you about not really loving 15mm for a lot of landscapes...I prefer 25mm and longer, but it's absolutely fantastic with architecture, bridges, city stuff, or just about any man-made structure or vehicle (e.g. Charlie's great boat shot).

Going to repeat myself, but I can really see following in Eddie's footsteps (again!) 'cause I do love the CV 15mm and 21mm as an awesome one-two wide-angle punch. Messes with my 67mm filter uniformity thing though. What size filter does the CV 15mm take?

NO to scratch removal. Patina is a good thing....everything I look in a mirror I say that!

Great point. Since I have a lot of patina myself, it stands to reason not to remove any from anything else I own that has a few years on it too.

I'm allergic to bee stings so using the Laowa 15 to shoot macro of them is a definite no, no for me. The FE 90mm gives me enough working space to make it somewhat easier for me to approach a small critter too. One of the features I like best on any macro lens is the closer than normal minimum focus distance.

Loxia 21

A view of the restaurant at our Museum of Art (SAMA). Too bad it's currently closed for renovation. This is one case where I would have liked to have people dining in the shot.

Btw, this is 3 images blended in PS CC manually, then I exported that merged image back into Photomatix. I took that Photomatix image and blended parts of it back into my merged image in PS CC to accentuate certain parts of the building. Some clouds would have been great too but I only had a clear evening last week and I didn't really want to do a sky replacement (not a big fan of those). Oh, I also blended in another image for the water which was shot with the SR app.

You got a mountainscape backdrop, some nice warm sky glow at the horizon, and a nicely posed figure. I'll say art. Only thing is the figure with the headlight thing has become rather cliche and overdone anymore. Still, you made a really cool image and I like it. But I also like your waterfall photo. ;)

Anyone ever shot with an old rolleiflex? I've always fancied one

Yes. Mine is a Rolleiflex D with a Schneider-Kreuznach Xenotar 1:2.8/80 lens. I have several rolls of film in the freezer. Have not used it in a decade.:-(

I keep looking at them on eBay every so often. Got this idea of developing my own b&w images from it

i like it better with the light reflections. Nice shots though. Early morning is about the only time you'll get that pier to yourself. I can't tell you how hard I try to get rid of people there at sunset. :)

Oh yeah I know Joshua, bought a lens or two off of him even. I've admired his work for a while. He's got excellent kit but a whole lot of talent to go with it. I just can't stand the 400/2.8. Shot with a guy in Panama who carried one and it is simply massive. I'm at the point where if I can't get the shot without something like the 400/2.8 then I'm just not going to get the shot.

Joshua's a great guy. Local to me. We've met up a few times, including a drive to Death Valley last year.
Very talented photographer.

If I need 400, I'll just go for the FE 100-400 at this point.
I intend to sell my Canon 100-400 and a few other items to fund the FE. I think it will be worth it.
