MedicineMan4040 The Magic Johnson of Cameras More info | Jul 25, 2017 22:36 | #2492 Gene you are right about the working distance using the EOS 24-70/4 for macro, this shot via the 180mm OK David, sport or art? Planning, execution and pulling it off. I think on this one I came closest ever to my eye. It's a 3 hour drive to the trailhead but the last 5 miles on curvy mountainous road and within the last mile a gigantic tree blocking the road. The driving work around took another hour, then the hike begins to the top for the shot all the time driving and hiking thinking of the MW's position and do I have enough time. Then of course no foreground object on top so the foreground object had to be me and the 10 second timer. Waterfall photography is very similar. For Widow Creek falls if we'd tried one day earlier it would have been over run with kids swimming in the lower pools and while hiking up to the falls we saw a ranger with a bag of trash he'd just collected there! Another 30 min's and the Sun would have ruined the shot. Now if anyone has the Milky Way its Eriet! I bet he feels about it like I do waterfalls ![]() IMAGE LINK: https://flic.kr/p/FU5jmu flickr

Great point. Since I have a lot of patina myself, it stands to reason not to remove any from anything else I own that has a few years on it too. MedicineMan4040 wrote in post #18411384 Gene you are right about the working distance using the EOS 24-70/4 for macro, this shot via the 180mm Tamron macro- ![]() I'm allergic to bee stings so using the Laowa 15 to shoot macro of them is a definite no, no for me. The FE 90mm gives me enough working space to make it somewhat easier for me to approach a small critter too. One of the features I like best on any macro lens is the closer than normal minimum focus distance. Gene - My Photo Gallery ||

Only thing is the figure with the headlight thing has become rather cliche and overdone anymore. Still, you made a really cool image and I like it. But I also like your waterfall photo. I've admired his work for a while. He's got excellent kit but a whole lot of talent to go with it. I just can't stand the 400/2.8. Shot with a guy in Panama who carried one and it is simply massive. I'm at the point where if I can't get the shot without something like the 400/2.8 then I'm just not going to get the shot. Joshua's a great guy. Local to me. We've met up a few times, including a drive to Death Valley last year. Sony A7RII and a bunch of lenses.

You're making me really want one! ![]() I agree with you about not really loving 15mm for a lot of landscapes...I prefer 25mm and longer, but it's absolutely fantastic with architecture, bridges, city stuff, or just about any man-made structure or vehicle (e.g. Charlie's great boat shot). Going to repeat myself, but I can really see following in Eddie's footsteps (again!) 'cause I do love the CV 15mm and 21mm as an awesome one-two wide-angle punch. Messes with my 67mm filter uniformity thing though. What size filter does the CV 15mm take? 58mm. | SONY A7SIII(2) | A73 | A6000 | Sony A7IV | Sigma105 | FE1635F4 | Tamron 70-180mm F2.8 | Tamron 17-28 Tamron 28-75 | FE50F1.8 | Sony 16035F4PZ | SEL30mm F3.5 Macro | Canon 24mm TSE | Laowa 15mm Shift
