Mickey I've just got an emotional thing toward the a99ii.....can't explain. Yes it is
the melding of several beasts but something beyond having an a7Rii+a6500 in your
hand at the same time. Regardless you're going to love it. It is a great time to be
in the Sony world!

You've heard this before, from me, that when Sony gives me native 400mm it's goodbye Canon.
In fact down to only 6 Canon lenses post my fire sale over the last two months and 2 bodies. I keep
clinging on the 7Dii and the 400DOii for emotional reasons---they just gave me more BIF than any
other combination and because I had it longer and it went on more trips.
Anyway the motivating lens is here, thanks to FedEx it was on the stoop when I woke up (safe neighborhood).
But as always when a new lens or camera arrives monsoon rains. So ISO goes up eh, no big deal :)

And Eriet, you'll want an integral tripod foot. I saw the RRS one for the 70-200GM and it looked real close. Turns out to be snap-click instant placement on the 100-400GM which is lighter than the 70-200GM; not marketed for the 100-400 YMMV but I didn't have a problem today with it-

Theres that funky 2x TC background I just cant get over... sharp and fast yes. Do you have a link for the foot. B&H may have shipped since it was in processing so long and they hit the card but of course they are not available for their customer service till Sunday.

Haha and you are absolutely right; I would love a 100-400mm for that! :) I purchased the Batis 135mm (used one from the FM buy/sell board) because my hope is that it will be sufficiently long enough for most telephoto landscapes, yet is light and small enough to fit into my Urban Approach 5 and 10 bags. But, there is no question I would dearly love the 100-400mm GM.

Are you still planning to sell your 100-400mm to buy Sony FE 100-400mm GM Gene?

Yes, I am David. If you know of anyone interested, you could have them contact me. If you'd like, I can give you my email address via pm.

Those shots look impressively sharp. Now back to my "I am not a..., I don't need a..." chants. :p

Thank you Gene for the strip-box recommendation a couple of weeks back. I finally received one just today. Being spoiled by modifiers that pop-open fully assembled first impressions having to assemble the rods were not great, but after watching some youtube videos and
finally getting it together I think I can assemble this pretty quickly in the field. The good thing is that it takes up very minimal space when disassembled...all these random modifiers are taking up a lot of space in my laundry room lol.

I'll be in the studio tomorrow and will put these to work (got two of them), but here's a quick test shot of my dad's old camera. It's really dusty and not the greatest shot in the world...just testing this thing out and don't have time to mess with it too much right now. I got the strip box with the grid, and you can see how minimal the light spill is relative to the size of the modifier itself.

70-200 GM....AD200 inside the strip box.

Yes, unfortunately, with the much lower cost to buy this strip box comes the penalty of a more complicated set-up/break-down. For my uses, money saved won out. I'm still very happy with mine btw.

So if this dang lens ships the 70-300 is for sale and so is the tammy 150-600 I am hoping for $600 net on that since it is A mount.

Undecided if I sell the 55 1.8 or 90 macro. I dont use the 55 enough and the macro gets used but I do have the legacy Viv series 1 90 2.5 to cover macro in a pinch.

I could also sell my 24 TSE in A mount I keep waffling on that.

Really need to lighten my kit up and improve what I carry for more focus.

90 / 55 grrrr

It actually wasn't too bad once I figured it all out. Its really well built though......sturdy metal frame and really thick material for the actual modifier. The flip-side is there are a lot of cheap-o quick set-up modifiers with plastic rods and what-not that don't hold up to any kind of abuse.
