I did, indeed, mean July 30th. I guess my mind was still in vacation mode when I posted. Thanks for catching that!

Contest closed. Great entries, everyone. Thanks. I'll take a bit to review them all, and announce the winner.

Again, thank you, everyone, for your entries. They are all wonderful and made it very difficult to pick a winner.

teekay - Black Bear Cub Gets Curious: Seeing this would certainly make a walk in the garden interesting and exciting. I trust someone had your back in case mama bear was around. Great catch with good composition.

Old Crow - Yellow Iris: Beautiful colors and detail. Irises in my garden have been gone for awhile. Very nice.

Hye5 - Busy Bee: Lovely shot. Great colors, detail and composition.

Jason C: Thank you for your entry, and also for your honesty.

Paul B - The "I don't know what it is" butterfly: I believe it is a Blue Morpho butterfly. Beautiful colors and a great catch.

darkslinger - Very pleasing photo. I like the detail and the dof.

M_Six - Little Foxie: Almost had to disqualify you for improper use of the cute factor :p.

bpiper7: An interesting perspective using sepia tone for what one would typically think is a colorful topic. Excellent detail. Have you thought about a square crop?

But in the end, I have to say High Five to Hye5 - for the win.

Thanks again, everyone.

Good shot, Hye5and a fine choice for winner despite so many other good and varied shots - I'm glad I wasn't judging.

As for my bear cub, yes Mama was very close but I had a good 5' gap between bears and deck where I was standing, so was safe. Unfortunately this bear family got very used to humans and started frequenting a school area so they all ended up shot.
